Award Winning Corn Bread

So this is called the Award Winning Corn Bread because I won the best cornbread category at the chili cook-off at my parents church a number of years ago.  This recipe comes from Elliot Glacier Public House and makes enough for the dinner crowd a the pub, so you may want to cut the recipe in half unless you plan on feeding a small army.  This recipe came straight from the owner of the pub.



Elliot Glacier Cornbread
this is for those big ass pans we had, so think it is best to cut it in half and that should work for a regular cake pan sized batch ...

Cream w/ mixer the following:
2 cups butter flavored crisco
2 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Add and mix by hand:
1/4 cup stout or porter
2 cans (4 c) creamed style corn
3 cups flour
2 cups cornmeal
Bake @ 350* for 1 hour (and maybe 15 mins more)
